No, I'm still not into the K-pop culture (not that I'm discriminating lah), but accompanying my friend to the YG Family concert while in Tokyo did make me notice Tablo (even though he ain't one of those pretty boys we see), of whom I like his songs. Though he mainly raps in his songs (which he composes), the songs in general are quite nice. It seems he has struggled a lot in getting to this point and he's a Stanford grad! Even though many have questioned whether that was true. You can read more about him on wikipedia.
Anyway, the songs I recall at the concert were "Tomorrow" (feat. Taeyang from Big Bang), "Bad" (sung with Bom from 2NE1 that night) and I think "Airbag" (with Gummy that night). I don't know what the songs are saying except for the English parts though.
Here's "Tomorrow":
Here's "Bad", though I don't really like the MV, coz too violent. I couldn't even bear watching it till the end.
I wonder if I can get his album (Fever's End) here. If not then I'll have to get it from iTunes. Hmm...it comes in 2 parts...are they sold separately?
I never used to like Avril Lavigne, I think due mainly by the "bad" reports I heard and her well-known foul mouth. But in recent times, I have had a chance to listen to some of her songs and I realised her songs are actually not bad and she's quite talented, angsty as they are (although I still can't take the foul language). I would go "you mean that's Avril Lavigne?"
So there, this is the 3rd album I got out of the '3 for $49.90' offer at That CD shop. And this is my fave among the 3 albums.
One main reason I bought this album was because it has "Alice", the song from the movie Alice in Wonderland (the Johnny Depp one). I guess this was one song that changed my impression of her.
Though short, I like "Black Star", a song she wrote for her fragrance of the same name. Sounds very starry. There isn't an official full length video though.
Another song I like is "Wish You Were Here".
Ok, it may seem like I'm only picking those with MVs, but other songs I like include "Not Enough", "4 Real", "Remember When" and "Goodbye". That last song is like a lullaby, guess that's why the name of the album?
Some time back, I mentioned that I bought 3 CDs for $49.90, one being Adele's 21, which I've talked about earlier, and another being Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto.
My favourite Coldplay album thus far (not that I have listened to that many) is Parachutes and my favourite song is "Trouble" from that album. But Mylo Xyloto is growing on me.
Mylo Xyloto is described as a concept album that follows a story.
"According to Chris Martin, the album is "based on a love story with a happy ending," in which two protagonists living in an oppressive, dystopian, urban environment, meet one another through a gang and fall in love." - from Wikipedia
One of my favourites is "Paradise" which kind of sticks in the head. Lyrics are repeated but I guess that's why. The MV is rather weird though. What's with the elephants? But it was shot in South Africa. Paradise?
Some other songs I like (besides "Every Teardrop is a Waterfall") are "Major Minus" and "Princess of China" (featuring Rihanna).
Hmm...guess I'm quite a reserved/shy person, if not overtly serious person, who reflects a lot, so I have quite a mindful waiting to spill, things simple, close to heart...
~ 1 of my dreams is to serve in the music ministry in church... however, as I'm out of practice in my music skills, not sure how I can fit in...can only play a little piano & violin. Even more so, I want to compose worship songs.
A real Librarian
~ I want to be a real professional librarian, doing real reference work and collection development.
Picking up my Violin
~ I have been wishing to pick up my violin again, but have been procrastinating.
