It's been really nice that I had on 2 recent occasions, managed to get on a cab rather quickly even though there was a queue. And it was in the same scenario, though different MRT stations.
The first was I think 3 weeks ago when on exiting Serangoon Station, I was caught off-guard by the queue at the station. This was possibly because of the newly opened Nex mall. I've not taken a cab there for a while so was a bit at a "loss". But actually, I wasn't even sure if it was the taxi queue as the people were standing a bit off the starting point meant for taxi queues. Anyway, before I could get in line, a taxi came along indicating that it was changing shift (Hougang, I think). After he looked around and no one seems to be moving to take it, I went up to ask if he was going my way and he said ok. Yeah!
The 2nd time was tonight when I was waiting for a cab at Yio Chu Kang MRT. I was in the the line (3 or 4 people ahead) for less than 5 minutes when a changing shift (AMK) taxi came along. The people in front didn't take it so I checked with the driver if he would take me. And yeah! I was on my way home.
Good eh? Hopefully it'll be so easy often. :P
