As part of Animation Nation 2010, I caught another film, this time in English. I don't own a dog, but I love them.
Synopsis:
Based on the novel by British writer J.R. Ackerley and featuring the voice talents of Christopher Plummer, the late Lynn Redgrave, and Isabella Rossellini, "My Dog Tulip" is a bittersweet account of one man’s 16-year love affair with his adopted Alsatian . . . A profound and subtle mediation on the complexities that belie all relationships, "My Dog Tulip" is the first animated feature ever to be entirely hand-drawn and painted using paperless computer technology.
Trailer:
It was amazing that this was fully hand-drawn.
I really liked this film which was hilarious in it's own quirky way (British humour). Even though it was like a memoir (which the book was), it wasn't boring but filled with little anecdotes that are close to the heart. It may seem a little "exaggerated" at times because of it now being made in animation, where personal thoughts/imaginings are depicted graphically, but I think it was done in nice measure. I think my friends and I agreed that we now know a little bit more about "certain" aspects of dog behaviour. :P
