Connectivity in Crisis

It came to mind, on my way to work, that the world has shown to be or become more connected, through the crises we have been facing, global or regional, in recent years. Examples:

1) Current economic crisis - the global impact

2) Swine flu - the virus has spread as far as New Zealand due to travels. However, the connectivity can also been seen by the way countries have communicated with each other, how WHO is handling the issue, and the whole world on the alert together. I guess this has something to do with the SARS outbreak of some years back, where the importance of cooperation between countries proved key.

3) Szechuan earthquake
When it happened, so many countries and aides came forward to help.

4) Tsunami
Same as the earthquake, many came forward to provide support.

I'm sure there are more examples and as the world gets more connected, we relate more to each other. Although some are for the good of mankind, while others not, what is encouraging is the extent of support and cooperation seen for humanitarian issues.
