I would have missed it if my friend hadn't asked me last week if I wanted to catch the aftereight series: T'ang Quartet with guest Albert Tiu, as I had forgotten about it (I had actually did some research when a friend was asking if I wanted to catch some violin or piano performances). Furthermore, there were only a few single seats left, which left us sitting separately.
A good thing I went coz I really enjoyed it, especially the 2nd half of the performance when they had the Tango Ballet, where I could actually imagine dancers dancing the tango. There were some interesting sounds there as the cellist doubled-up as a "percussionist" as well with his cello, and little effects that I was scrutunizing from afar. Interestingly, I had never really caught a T'ang quartet concert (not counting the masterclass of 2 years ago and the recent appearance in The Importance of Being Earnest) and they were good!
As I listened through the performance, I realised that I have not really listened to these classical performances for a while and suddenly felt that I missed the SSO concerts which I used to attend quite frequently (on average once a month) and began contemplating on attending 1 or 2 shows in the following months.
I discovered too that I missed the violin, or rather the 'sound' of the violin; the way it calls you, pulling your "heartstrings" as it sings its song. I tend to fantasize that I'm the one playing (although that will never happen), and be feeling the music through & through, with expression. Often, I wonder, whenever I attend violin performances, what would have happened if I weren't so lazy and had continued learning the violin. Well, one can dream right?
Well, of course, I would definitely need to get that violin of mine fixed first.
